The Truth: On April 25th 2025 RIALTO ventured out of the shadows fully 30 years since their initial ‘90s walk on the wild side. ‘Neon And Ghost Signs’ was the comeback album in question, a lavishly louche updating of centrifugal force Louis Eliot’s noirish visions, sprinkled with disco gold dust and a hint of despair.

Almost fully a year on Rialto return with brrrand new material in the form of the 'Paper Doll' single, following hot on the nubile heels of ‘The One You Love’. The latter was an April curtain-raiser for the release of the deluxe version of the ‘Neon And Ghost Signs’ album. The missing 363 days? Oh, just a Supergrass tour here, a Sleeper tour there, a Scala headline elsewhere and many alt.pop feverings in between. ‘The One You Love’ very much continues the louchely lavish ‘Neon And Ghost Signs’ theme, which is scant surprise seeing as how it was part of the original album recording sessions. Or, as Louis puts it:

“I used to try and write songs about love without using the word love. Then I gave in and wrote ‘The One You Love’, which I now realise is about narcissism, without using the word narcissism. It’s about a situation where the more desperate lengths you go to, to meet someone’s needs, the less they reciprocate. You start beating yourself up for not being able to achieve the unachievable. But really you’re just being sucked into a vortex with a vacuum at its centre. Apparently.”

The deluxe edition features one other unreleased track from the ‘Neon And Ghost Signs’ sessions in ‘Paper Doll’, plus a slew of remixes and reworkings of various admirably raffish album tracks. It will be with us on June 19th 2026. More details a’coming…
