The Truth: celestial Danish-US duo Moon Panda released their debut longplayer ‘What On Earth’ via Fierce Panda Records on 4th March 2022. The stunning limited-edition yellow colour vinyl version of the album contained exclusive bonus track ‘Submarine’, the track will now be made available on streaming services for the first time on 24th August 2022 ahead of the bands appearance at Same Same But Different Festival in California on 9th September.

‘What On Earth’ has seen Gustav Moltke and Maddy Myers receive acclaim across the board for their whimsical and transcendental guitar pop, straddling the lines of indie, dream pop, alt pop, trip hop and psychedelia. With pick up from The Independent, Dork, CLASH, Gigwise, London In Stereo and The New Cue, MOJO praised the record’s transportative nature saying “their calming, meticulously stylised sound often has that snowfall quality...Myers pushing through the wardrobe to Narnia on ‘Slow Drive’, and a sweetly tranquillising presence on icy, slowcore opener ‘Falling’”. Loud & Quiet’s 8/10 glowing write up called the record “a curiously addictive debut”.

Amplifying the other-worldly quality to their music, Moon Panda have been pairing their singles from the album with incredible animated videos with acclaimed artists including Simona Mehandzhieva and Andrew Khosravani, with Moltke even animating the video for ‘Falling’ himself. It fits, too: ‘What On Earth’ lulls you into an entrancing and dynamic dream pop universe. Speaking about the album Maddy says “Writing this whole album was basically a tool for self-soothing all of our anxious minds. This time it felt monumental, maybe because the entire world was going through something together.”

Following the release of ‘Pastel Pool’ in 2019, Moon Panda signed to fierce panda for their second EP 'Make Well' in 2020. The release earned critical acclaim for it's luscious, blissed out vibes across grooving bass lines with BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne declaring 'Slow Drive' her “favourite track of the year so far...top of the pile for me.”

As the love from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and radio stations across the globe grew, Moon Panda realised they were accidentally indulging in a spot of public service broadcasting: as the streaming figures multiplied, so did the messages of thanks from the lockdowned masses across the globe who were using the duos’ music to transport themselves out of their locked down discomfort zones. 'Slow Drive' was featured in episode 5 of CBS Studios' 'The Republic Of Sarah', which was broadcast on North American TV channel The CW in July 2021. Having notable shows supporting The Japanese House, Slow Club and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Moon Panda have toured throughout the UK, Denmark and USA, as well as playing festivals such as SXSW, The Great Escape and Focus Wales earlier this year.

"sits comfortably between '90s trip-hop pioneers Portishead and psychedelia rockers Tame Impala...a wonderfully laid-back record that provides enough variation to keep you absorbed" - Line Of Best Fit (8/10 Review)

"a curiously addictive debut...Records as simultaneously lean and strong as this feel rare, normally belying a confidence in compactness on the part of its writers, and What On Earth is just that: a concise, understated delight." - Loud & Quiet (8/10 Album Review)

"'What On Earth' delivers a measured, sophisticated, thoughtful debut record from a duo of formidable musicians – an album to paint to, to walk to maybe, and – of course – to drive to." - The Upcoming (5/5 Review)

"It's the duo's third single in the album campaign so far, and is also their strongest. Shades of Cocteau Twins and Lana Del Rey cross on this mellow, stylish lounge-dream pop gem.'' - Gigwise
