KYTE (onstage 10.15pm) are a combo from Leicestershire who wisely describe themselves as ambient / electro / pop. On the curious factoid front the b-side of their first single found fame on the trailer for The Sopranos in the USA, while their releases and live infamy have spread far and wide across the Far (and wide) East. KYTE have recently been busy working on their imminent album which features special guest vocals from Alessis Ark. In true ambient / electro / pop fashion the bits of it weve heard sound not a thrillion parallel universes away from Dollars Therese Bazar singing New Order songs in Trevor Horns sonic kitchen.
SAFARI (onstage 9.30pm) are five wild melody-tamers from Hertfordshire who are plotting to release a terrific album of shiny synth-whooshing pop antics which make us think of Metronomy, Mark Hollis and Home Counties neighbouroonies Friendly Fires. But dont take our demented word for it ā go to
and download their brrrrand new single Doubt for absolutely free.
THE TENFIVESIXTY (onstage 8.45pm) consist of Rik Hornby and Jen Bailey, a duo who share a love of lost romanticism, soundtracks, 60s girl groups, 80s hooks, good footwear and the darker side of classic British guitar pop, and who honed their craft touring America in a mini and on a budget of thruppence. Back in Blighty they were joined by drummer Seb Sternberg and the end result is sultry, fragile and not averse to the off smokily manic moodswing which sees them squeeze in between Mazzy Star and The Pretenders.
