*YET ANOTHER PANDA NEWS STORY ABOUT THE NEW PANDA NIGHT!* *THE CHEVIN PLAY LAST SHOW OF FOUR WEEK RESIDENCY!!* *PLUS TOP NOTCH FOUR-STRONG SUPPORTING CAST AHOY!!!* The Night: fierce panda and Club Fandango presents...BAMBOOOZLED #4
The Bands: The Date: THURSDAY OCTOBER 27TH 2011 The Venue: LONDON KENTISH TOWN BULL & GATE (389 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2TJ. 020 7485 5358) The Damage: £6.00 from here The Truth: it has been 16 months since Club Fandango took over the booking diary at the Bull & Gate. In that time new nights have been launched with scant regard for public safety, with mybandsbetterthanyourband, wegottickets, PRS, Amazing Radio, Club The Moon and Going Deaf For A Living all modelling the promoting bowler on a regular basis. One of those new nights is Bamboooozled, which is brought to you by the good burghers at fierce panda records, who STILL havent worked out how many oooos should be in it yet. I Like Trains trundled in to play Bambooozled # 3 in September, and Bambooooozled # 4 looks something like this¬¶ THE CHEVIN end their Bull & Gate residency here and now. For the past three Thursdays they have been enthralling those in the Kentish Town know with a widescreen combination of heroic hooks and arena-romping pizzazz. It is big. It is very clever. It is, according to Artrocker, E*P*I*C. Their Champion EP (fierce panda) will crashland on October 31st, whereupon the fearsomely commercial foursome will vacate their Yorkshire home for another month of touring in the company of Airborne Toxic Event and Pigeon Detectives. Although not at the same time. Obviously. www.the-chevin.com THE CAMPBELL APARTMENT are indiepop troubadours from Los Angeles, via New York City. They have released a new album which is called In and was produced by Jody Foster of Fountains of Wayne. Perhaps unsurprisingly then they make music which is ?ìBallsy, soulful and melodic¬¶Like if The Replacements tried even harder to be successful whilst drinking even more.¬ù www.facebook.com/thecampbellapartment CODES are a group of young men from Dublin who have heard The Big Music and embraced it with all keyboards, guitars and emotions blazing. This date ties in with the UK release of their blazingly emotional and enigmatically-titled TreesDreamInAlgebra album. www.facebook.com/codesofficial LIAM DULLAGHAN is one man and a guitar onstage when he isnt on record making melodic, soulful and ballsy powerpop. His Making History album has been compared to The Replacements, Teenage Fanclub and Big Star, which is the second reference in this press release to The Replacements, which in turn is the third reference to The Rep¬¶ah, forget it. The album also features po-mo slacker anthem Im Just F***ed Without You which you really should check out at http://liamdullaghan.tumblr.com MAZ is a solo artiste from Exeter. Last time she visited these parts (during the summertime riots, tourist fans) she took in a trip to Camden Market, recorded a BBC Introducing session at Maida Vale and played her first ever London show for Club Fandango. Not bad for someone too young to drink at the bar, but small West Country potatoes for a nascent talent who spent the school holidays recording her debut album, Sweep. Expect a first single, Counting My Fingers in January 2012. www.myspace.com/mariannetotterdell |
