The Truth: Self-proclaimed ‘ambient-ish post-something’ duo VLMV celebrate summertime shows way out west at ArcTanGent Festival and at Erased Tapes Sound Gallery in Hackney Village with the release of a new single called ‘Little Houses’, which features Tom Hodge. The track is released digitally on September 7th and the live shows look like this:

Creeping from the southern recesses of London Town, VLMV were formerly known as ALMA until several cases of mistaken identity with a green-haired Scandipop princess necessitated a gentlemanly branding rethink. So they flipped their name upside down and come up with VLMV, which is still pronounced ‘ALMA’. Or, if you simply must be a pronunciation pedant, ‘Uhl-muh’.

‘Little Houses’ is the third track to be taken from VLMV’s current mesmeric ‘Stranded, Not Lost’ album, a fragrantly fragile affair frequently built upon little more than glowing post-post-post-rock whispers and haunting dreams. Fittingly, ‘Little Houses’ comes heavily (dis)armed with the gorgeously understated piano work of Tom Hodge, whose recent work includes composing the score for primetime BBC drama ‘McMafia’ alongside Franz Kirmann, as well as ‘A Portrait Of John Doe’, an album collaboration with electronic musician and producer FLOEX, released by Mercury Kx records.

All of which makes utterly sensitive sense when one considers Lambrou’s cosmic provenance as mainstay of Codes In The Clouds and Monsters Build Mean Robots. Joined by fellow Code In The Clouder Ciaran Morahan, VLMV deploy a loop station, multiple delay pedals, a piano, soaring strings and a shattered falsetto to create a slow-moving, high-flying soundscape of luscious gravitas.
