A sweet fierce panda one sheet The Act: ALBERT GOLD The Release: ‘INTO THE WILD’ The Formats: DIGITAL DOWNLOAD & BEER MAT The Release Date: MARCH 16TH 2015 The Record Company: FIERCE PANDA The Truth: ALBERT GOLD is a sweet, sweet soul man from Hackney, East Londonshire. ‘Into The Wild’ is his second single following 2014’s ‘Feel Safe’, a release which was so enigmatically low-key Albert didn’t even appear in his own video. And yes, Albert Gold is his real name. The third release as part of fierce panda’s cunningly resurrected one-off singles ‘club’, ‘Into The Wild’ is available on download and beer mat on March 16th. The first two singles ‘club’ releases saw Fake Laugh’s retro indie tremblings tumble out in January followed by the punchy girlpunkpop of Doe in February, but Albert Gold is a giant step out of the leftfield. An alumni of the British Academy Of New Music in downtown Stratford (alongside Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora) Albert Gold has taken his sweet, sweet time before finally finding a musical style which is just the right fit for his voice. That style is multi-faceted synth-laden soulpop which, as ‘Into The Wild’ proves, is as melodic as it is hooky and as commercial as it is cool, as you may expect from an artist who has drawn comparisons with Luther Vandross and Frank Ocean, often in the same sultry breath. ‘Into The Wild’ was one of the very first songs Albert co-wrote in a series of sessions with Sacha ‘Wrecking Ball’ Skarbek last year, and there are many more shiny pop-tastic co-writes to come. Even better, the frankly excellent video for ‘Into The Wild’ sees Albert Gold make a break for it at Suffolk’s lost seaside town of Felixstowe. It cost £250 and a bag of chips to make, but at least this time around Albert is happy to star in his own video, and star he does right HERE
