** PICK UP THE THE PHONE! LET'S GET CALLING! ** ** IT'S TIME FOR THE PANDA TO GO CAMDEN CRAWLING!! ** The Event: FIERCE PANDAS DAYTIME PARTY @ THE CAMDEN CRAWL
The Bands: The Date: SATURDAY 5th MAY 2012 Doors: 2pm - 6pm, free to wristband holders The Venue: CAMDEN LOCK TAVERN (35 Chalk Farm Road, Camden, London NW1 8AJ 020 7482 7163) The Facebook Event: www.facebook.com/#!/events/220125844762767/ The Truth: the esteemed - and indeed slightly steamy - fierce panda label has been inextricably linked with the Camden Crawl for more shiny moons than we care to remember. 2012 is going to be no different as we return to the Lock Tavern to present an afternoon of hectic do-or-indie funbags which coincides with the panda's 18th birthday celebrations. Entry is free (and indeed only possible with) Camden Crawl wristbands. Anticipate live turns from Hatcham Social, Electricity In Our Homes and The Kabeedies (all of whom have fierce panda albums out right now), throw in the sixteen-legged pop lust of Dingus Khan and expect much more fur out daylight minxiness besides. But don't just take our words for it, take these as well...
HATCHAM SOCIAL (onstage 5.30pm) are a London Town-based alternative pop quartet who are returning to the fray with a new album, a revamped line-up and a zestily rewired rock'n'roll attitude - think leather jackets, Roy Orbison covers and lip-curling choruses. The band released their second album About Girls on April 2nd. To celebrate this edifying event the band headed to SXSW in the middle of March and have been touring Blighty from the day of the albums release, including this very Camden Crawl bash here.
THE KABEEDIES (onstage 4.30pm) are a Norwich-based alternative pop quartet who are heading to Camden with their recently released second album 'Soap' close to hand. Their girl-fronted reputation has been forged on a series of zinging singles which fizz and fuzz and generally starjump around the kitchen at parties. Apart from imminent new release 'Bones', which is really quite bleak and is out on the panda on May 21st.
ELECTRICITY IN OUR HOMES (onstage 3.30pm) are a London-based alternative bendypop trio who are touting their debut 'Dear Shareholder' album, which is a leg-slapping hoopla of clattering drums and rattling guitar and chattering boy/ girl vocals which sounds not unlike a vintage Peel Session from the olden days of oldenness.
DINGUS KHAN (onstage 2.30pm) is / are a sixteen-legged groove machine from Manningtree at the very tippity top of Essex. They incorporate three drummers and three bassists into their colossal progpunkpop sound which was hurled into the public eye with the recent release of their Knifey Spoony single on fierce panda spin-off Label Fandango and which found a very warm welcome on the hillside of BBC 6music. Their second single is the whistling epic 'Made A List' which comes out on other fierce panda spin-off label Giant Haystacks on June 18th. |
